Narsingdi District (Dhaka division) with an area of 1140.76 sq km, is bounded by kishoreganj district on the north, narayanganj and brahmanbaria districts on the south, Brahmanbaria and Kishoreganj districts on the east, gazipur district on the west. Annual average temperature: maximum 36°C, minimum 12.7°C; annual rainfall 2376 mm. Main rivers are Meghna, Arial Khan, Haridhoa, Kalagachhia and Paharia. There are high hills with red soil on the northern region of the district.

Narsingdi (Town) consists of 9 wards and 33 mahallas. The area of the town is 14.76 sq km. Narsingdi municipality was established in 1972. The town has a population of 42023; male 54.52%, female 45.48%; density of population per sq km is 2847. Literacy rate among the town people is 51.6%.

Administration Narsingdi district was a subdivision under greater Dhaka district and was turned into a district in 1984. The district consists of 6 upazilas, 3 municipalities, 27 wards, 55 mahallas, 69 union parishads, 652 mouzas, 1060 villages. The upazilas are belabo, monohardi, shibpur, raipura, palash and narsingdi sadar

Association For Co-ordinate Operation In Rural Development (ACORD) is a local non-government, non-profit and non-political human rights organization. Established in 2004 and registered with the Social welfare department of the Government of Bangladesh (Registration. no. 345/04), ACORD based in Dhaka and Narshingdi.
Mainstay projects of ACORD focus on human rights, legal support, mediation/ADR, human security, violence prevention and peace building, livelihood security, humanitarian support, human trafficking prevention, child sexual abuse prevention, female empowerment, fair international trade, debt exemption, consumer rights, good governance, democratic participation and equal rights of all citizens. In addition to projects that are funded by external donors, there are projects and programs that are supported by locally generated resources, subscriptions and contributions.
ACORD provides training, evaluation, survey, research, and technical assistance to national and international development agencies.
A team of committed professional workers runs ACORD. Activities of this team are overseen by a seven member Executive Committee elected by the General Body. ACORD has membership with a number of reputed national and international networks.
